Pilot Floating Solar Photovoltaic Plant To Be Built in Armenia For First Time

For the first time in Armenia, a pilot floating solar photovoltaic station will be built on the water. It will be the first of its kind in the region. According to R2E2, Armenian-French specialists are considering three options for the construction of a 150 kW power plant: Lake Yerevan, Aparan anf Azat Reservoirs. The production of the plant can be about 250 thousand kWh/year.

The construction of the plant is envisaged within the framework of "Development of First Solar Floating Station in Armenia", which is jointly implemented by the Armenia Renewable Resources and Energy Efficiency Fund and French company TRANSENERGIE. The program was launched on March 1, 2021.

The foundation posted on its Facebook page the preliminary results of an environmental study conducted by the German company Baywa in the 27.4 MW floating solar power plant "Bomhofsplas" in the Netherlands, according to which no significant negative impact was recorded on the flora and fauna of the lake.
