Prime Minister Discussed With Chair of Board of Directors of Lydian Armenia Situation Around Amulsar

In Paris Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan met in Paris with Gordon Wylie, President of Lydian International’s Board of Directors, and Julian Davidson, member of the Board of Directors. The meeting focused on the situation around the Amulsar mine project and the ways of addressing it.

According to the official website of the Prime Minister, Prime Minister Pashinyan highlighted and prioritized the safety of water resources in Lake Sevan basin and Amulsar region. At the same time, the Prime Minister noted that any solution should be based on specific facts. In this context, The Premier stressed the importance of continued dialogue between Lydian International and those communities affected by the Amulsar issue.

For around three months, the construction works of Amulsar mining project have been suspended. The citizens fighting against the project, the locals are keeping all the roads leading the construction area blocked and demanding from the new government not to permit the implementation of this project.

RA Nature Protection and Soil Inspection Body carried out inspections in Amulsar mine area and proposed RA Nature Protection Ministry to recognize the expert assessment statement on the basis of newly emerged ecological factors.

Besides, the Head of RA Nature Protection and Soil Inspection has submitted documents to RA General Prosecutor's Office on the facts of illegal transportation of mining mass without having a soil management permit and a criminal case has been initiated.
