"Ayg-1" Photovoltaic Station with 200 MW Projected Capacity Planned To Be Operated in 2025

In 2025, it is planned to put into operation the 200-megawatt solar photovoltaic plant "Ayg-1". The winner of the tender for the construction of the plant was Abu Dhabi Future Energy Company PJSC - Masdar, United Arab Emirates.

"In fact, we already have a winning company, which has offered 2.9 cents for 1 kW of electricity, which is a rather low price. It is a rather large investment program, about $ 174 million,” Acting Deputy Prime Minister Tigran Avinyan said at the sitting of the Armenian government held on June 24. He noted that the land allotment necessary for the construction of the station is underway.

"Ayg-1" solar photovoltaic station will be built in the administrative territory of Talin and Dashtadem Communities in Aragatsotn Region, Armenia.

Reminder: in 2019, the Government of the Republic of Armenia approved "MASDAR ARMENIA PROGRAM" investment program. "MASDAR ARMENIA PROGRAM" was initiated by Abu Dhabi Future Energy Company (Masdar) founded in the United Arab Emirates and Armenia National Interest Fund established by the Government of Armenia.

The companies intend to build two solar photovoltaic stations on a total of 1,040 hectares of land in Aragatsotn and Kotayk Regions, each with a capacity of 200 MW. The stations will be called “Ayg 1” and “Ayg 2”. It is planned to eliminate about 520 hectares of land for the first station from Talin, Dashtadem, Katnaghbyur and Yeghnik communities. For the second station, it is planned to take about 520 hectares of land from Yeghvard and Nor Edesia communities.

The Government of the Republic of Armenia is considering taking the lands as a donation and has given a corresponding instruction to the Minister of Territorial Administration and Infrastructure of the Republic of Armenia.
