Fire in Areviq National Park Area: Damage Assessment in Progress

About 12 hectares of vegetation area as well as juniper and fir trees are burnt in the forest on the Lehvaz-Vardanidzor motorway in Syunik Province of Armenia, the Ministry of Emergency Situations (MES) informs. More than 150 rescuers, soldiers, police officers, and local workers have participated in the firefighting.

In his interview with EcoLur, Press Secretary of RA Ministry of Environment ArmenVardanyan said that the fire has spread to the area of Arevik National Park. “There are still smoking spots, post-extinguishing works are in progress, as well as damage assessment.”

The MES informed additional information will be provided about the fire.
