At the meeting of the cabinet Armenian PM Karen Karapetyan expressed his dissatisfaction with the concept paper on the complex reforms in forest sector. ‘The concept paper on the complex reforms in forest sector doesn’t envisage sufficient solutions for forest preservation, combating illegal tree felling, as well as increase in governance and efficiency of the competent bodies. Moreover, the proposals on legislative amendments are missing in the document,’ the PM said. He assigned RA Agriculture, Nature Protection, Territorial Administration and Development Ministers to jointly develop and submit to the staff of the government the amended and supplemented draft concept paper on forest reforms. ‘We have several bodies dealing with forest economy, the functions of which are not clearly separated. We want the forest to be managed by one body and to be supervised by another body, so as to have relevant conflict of interests and conditions promoting effectiveness,’ Karen Karapetyan mentioned, as the official website of the Armenian Government informs.
