On 19 May, the residents of Gndevaz Village, Vayots Dzor Region, have blocked all the roads leading to Amulsar starting from 8:00 in the morning. The residents are demanding to stop the implementation of Amulsar gold mining project. The reason for Gndevaz residents’ complaint is the damage of Gdenvaz’s drinking water aqueduct during the implementation of Amulsar project. As the local residents told EcoLur during their interview, the metallic aqueduct running to the village was damaged during the implementation of Amulsar project several months ago. On 17 May the second aqueduct was damaged - a plastic one, which resulted in having muddy water in the taps of the houses. Gndevaz residents employed at Amulsar project have also joined this protest demonstration.

No representative of “Lydian Armenia” Company, which implements Amulsar project, has come out to the residents and listened to their complaints. The residents claim the road will be blocked unless their demands are performed. It should be mentioned that “Veolia Jur” Company doesn’t serve Gndevaz Village.
