According to Minister of Nature Protection of RA Aram Harutyunyan, the forest cutting in Teghout is carried out in accordance with the law and is conditioned by the fact that preparatory processes for the exploitation of the workshop for concentrate production have finished.

"If there are forests located on, for example, goldmines, these forests must be cut down. However, the process of double tree planting must start in this case. If 10 ha of forest is cut down, 100 ha must be reforested," the Minister said. Approximately 600 ha of forest is being cut down on the territory of “Sevan” National Park. According to the Minister, the cut wood is sold at market prices as building materials under the Ministry’s supervision, and the money obtained goes for reforestation.
