The draft document on radioactive wastes and used nuclear fuel of Armenia has been developed, which was presented at the meeting held at Energy and Natural Resources Ministry on 24 September. According to the official information, the document lays down proposals to improve the legal field in Armenia. It’s proposed to establish a “national operator” for the management of radioactive wastes and used nuclear fuel, which will ensure centralized and unified management of radioactive wastes. According to the international requirements, a unified system for the registration and control of radioactive wastes has been developed.
The works on developing “Strategy for radioactive wastes and used nuclear fuel” document were launched in September 2013 in the frames of Armenia-EU cooperation.
