Artashar and Zartonq Community Heads in Armavir Region have dispatched an official letter to PM Nikol Pashinyan requesting to have former fish farm areas returned to communities. Under the community heads, in the 1990s the community balance had 224 ha of land area (127 ha for Zartonq and 97 ha for Artashar), which the government had alienated to “Armavir Farmer” CJSC for fish farming.
“Currently, these land areas are not used for fish farming, they are used as plow-lands and are rented to people. Rent fees are high and if it is returned back to the community, people will pay less for land areas, for example, 10,000 AMD for one ha and not 300,000 AMD. If it doesn’t serve its target aim and is used for agriculture, let the community use these land areas,” Artashar Community Head Manvel Ohanyan said.
“We have presented the demand of our people: our communities have few land areas, so people are demanding to return their administrative land areas,” Zartonq Community Head Paruyr Sargsyan added.
It should be mentioned that Artashar Community needs agricultural land areas, as most land areas in the community have undergone salination and are not subject to cultivation.
