Green Climate Fund Developed Grievance Procedure

EcoLur

The Green Climate Fund has developed the Independent Redress Mechanism (IRM), which addresses complaints by people who believe they are negatively affected or may be affected by projects or programmes funded by the Green Climate Fund (GCF). It should be mentioned that that the Green Climate Fund was established within the framework of the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change. The purpose of the Fund is to provide developing countries with financial mechanisms to mitigate the effects of climate change or to implement adaptation programs. It is envisaged that the developed countries should invest about 100 billion USD for this purpose. In 2017, Green Climate Fund granted Armenia $20 million grant to increase energy efficiency of buildings:

The GCf has sent sent two videos on IRM to EcoLur for dissemination, which aim to raise awareness. The first video is a compilation of interviews that explains why the work of the IRM is important to make GCF projects successful.

The second video is an animated one, which demonstrates when and how complaints can be submitted to the IRM and what outcomes can be expected.
