World Meteorology Day Marked in Yerevan


Today the Ministry for Emergency States officially marked World Meteorology Day at “ARMENIAN STATE HYDROMETEOROLOGICAL AND MONITORING SERVICE" SNCO. The representatives of the Ministries, international bodies and public attended this event to congratulate the Armenia meteorologists. Levon Vardanyan, Director of “ARMENIAN STATE HYDROMETEOROLOGICAL AND MONITORING SERVICE" SNCO, welcomed the participants and made a report on the activities of the organization for 2015. “World Meteorological Organization has selected the following slogan for the World Meteorological Day, 23rd March, “Hotter, drier, wetter. Face the future”, which is most suitable for this complicated climate and weather period…2011-2015 were the warmest five years, which is record-breaking. In Armenia from 1929 to 2015 the average temperature has risen by 1.22 degrees, which is higher than the average global temperature by 0.33 degree and promotes increase in climate risks,” said Levon Vardanyan in his speech and congratulated his colleagues, as the “ARMENIAN STATE HYDROMETEOROLOGICAL AND MONITORING SERVICE" SNCO was recognized as the best department of the Ministry for Emergency Stated for 2015.
