ArmHydromet Celebrating World Meteorological Day

On 23 March Hydrometservice of the Ministry for Emergency States celebrated the World Meteorological Day.

Hydrometservice organized an event, where Deputy MES Minister Davit Karapetyan made a welcoming speech followed by Deputy Agriculture Minister Garnik Petrosyan, Mher Mkrtumyan, Head of Staff of State Committee on Water Industry of Agriculture Ministry, YSU Geography and Geology Faculty Dean Marat Grigoryan, “For Sustainable Human Development” Association President Karine Danielyan, “EcoLur” Informational NGO Inga Zarafyan and Veterain in Hydrometeorology Gennady Kojoyan.

MES Hydrometservice Director Levon Vardanyan made a presentation, “Studies show that the frequency of hazardous hydrometeorological phenomena and climatic extremes, as well as their duration and insensitivity have increased, which can promote desertification, floods, fires and avalanches, accumulation of toxic gases in the atmosphere, spread of infectious diseases etc leading to human and economic losses,” Levon Vardanyan said.

A number of Ministry employees were awarded with diplomas and certificates of gratitude.
