Legislative Restrictions in Use of Substances Destroying Ozone Layer in Armenia

EcoLur

On January 23, the National Assembly of the Republic of Armenia adopted in the first reading the bill on Making Amendments to Law on Substances Depleting Ozone Layer.

The amendments to the law propose to legally regulate ozone layer depleting substances as well as to introduce limitations on the production, import, export and transit of hydrocarbon gases in the Republic of Armenia as alternatives to these substances and their relationship to countries that have ratified the relevant international treaties – Vienna Convention for the Protection of the Ozone Layer and the Montreal Protocol on Substances that Deplete the Ozone Layer.

It is expected that the law will reflect both the Kigali amendment to the Montreal Protocol and the resulting EEU sectorial regulations, contributing to the effective implementation of state policy and international commitments in the field and the effective and uninterrupted regulation of public relations.
