After 20 Year Dalma Gardens Recovered Status of Historical and Cultural Monument

Dalma Gardens has been granted the status of a newly established historical and cultural monument of republican significance. Narine Khachaturyan, Deputy Minister of RA Ministry of Labor and Social Affairs says this in response to a letter from the Center for Public Awareness and Monitoring NGO.

 

 Due to construction by Park Group LLC in Dalma Gardens 2019, the wine reserve dating back to the 18-19th centuries was destroyed on November 16, 2019. The alarm signal was beaten by Public Information and Monitoring Center NGO to the Ministry. In this regard, "Scientific and Cultural Heritage Research Center" SNCO of Ministry of Education, Science, Sport and Culture of the Republic of Armenia carried out a study in the area of ​​Dalma Gardens from November 18 to 21 in 2019 and revealed a tomb dating back B.C. 2000-1000 millennia, 5 wine cellars and 1 wine reserve dating back to the 19th century.

The Ministry has instructed Historical and Cultural Heritage Research Center SNCO to clarify the boundaries of the territories in the cartographic material of the monument, its infrastructure mapping documents (certificates) for further safeguarding of the newly discovered monuments.

On December 19, civil society representatives addressed a letter to Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan, RA Prosecutor General Arthur Davtyan and Yerevan Mayor Hayk Marutyan demanding an immediate halt to the site development of Park Group LLC in Dalma Gardens. The Government has forwarded the application to Yerevan Municipality, Ministry of Environment and Ministry of Education, Science, Sport and Culture of the Republic of Armenia.

Currently, according to the documents prepared on the basis of the alarm signal by the Center for Public Awareness and Monitoring, the criminal case number 16954419 has been initiated under Article 264 of RA Criminal Code, which has been sent to Investigative Department of Malatia-Sebastia Administrative District.

At the same time Prosecutor of Malatia-Sebastia Administrative District A. Arsenyan has sent a letter to of the NGOs Head of Investigation Division of Malatia Sebastia Administrative District of Yerevan Investigation Committee Hovhannisyan requesting to halt the site development in Dalma Gardens. The prosecutor instructed to attach the application to the said criminal case and to investigate the circumstances mentioned in the application.
