Clarification by Inspection: Bee Eaters in Zovuni Were Not Shot At

In Zovuni, bee eaters were not shot at, but only sound explosives were used to scare off the birds, as EcoLur was informed about this by Nature Protection and Mining Inspection Body.

Reminder: EcoLur received an alarm signal that red-listed birds were being shot in Zovuni.

“This bird is not a red-listed one. The address mentioned in the alarm signal belongs to a citizen, on whose tree the birds have been noticed. This citizen is engaged in beekeeping. In order to protect his bees from birds, the citizen used sound explosives bought from the store,” Nature Protection and Mining Inspection Body informed EcoLur.

It should be mentioned that the green individual is red-listed in Armenia: the Red Book says that the main factor of this species being endangered is the resemblance with the golden bee eater.
