Armenian Environmental Front
The Armenian Environmental Front Volunteer Initiative received an alarm signal, photo and video from Armavir in late 2019 that a plant in their city was reopened that emits dangerous substances into the atmosphere at night. Later this news was confirmed as a result of the publication of one of the mass media. It turned out that a company had been extracting molybdenum from Teghut mine and had been processing it at the plant since November.
We sent an enquiry on December 27 to two state bodies to obtain the following information: The results of our survey and our research revealed the following:
On December 22, 2005, public discussions were held on the launch of “Hoktemberyan Ferrosplav Factory” LLC in Armavir, with about 20 citizens taking part in the protocol and no objections to the construction of the plant.
On October 12, 2006, the company was licensed to process molybdenum-based catalysts by a decision of the Government of the Republic of Armenia.
