Goght Residents Question Expediency of Constructing Geghardalitch Gravity Irrigation System

Whether the construction of Geghardalitch gravity irrigation system is expedient, if it can work only 20 days a year? Goght resident, activist Vahram Sedrakyan said in his interview with EcoLur, “Upon our demand the Geghardalitch gravity irrigation system program was amended: if it was planned to join the water pipelines from the same point of gravity irrigation system, as the point of the pipeline taking water for irrigation for Goght, now it’s planned to transfer this pipeline to the excessive point of Geghardalitch. It means we will use the water of Geghardalitch, but if there is excessive water, then we can take it. But in this case they can take only water for 20 days, as then no water is available in the reservoir.”

Nature Protection Ministry informed EcoLur that the amended Geghardalitch gravity irrigation program hasn’t been submitted for environmental impact expert assessment.
