The Armenian Government is taking measures to mitigate the problems threatening irrigation because of low water: it’s planned to use groundwater resources for the regulation of this problem. At the Cabinet meeting on 22 March RA Prime Minister Karen Karapetyan assigned Chairman of RA State Committee on Water Industry to jointly develop estimates on movable pumping equipment, acquisition of deep well pumps, recovery of non-operating deep wells, as well as drilling of new wells together with stakeholders and submit to RA Finance Ministry within 7 days. At the same time, the statutory environmental impact expert assessment will be ensured within maximum short time period possible.

After the Cabinet meeting Chairman of RA State Committee on Water Industry Arsen Harutyunyan said in his interview with the journalists that a month full of rain is forecast, but if the expectations are not lived up to, additional water intake will be carried out from Lake Sevan.
