Water Resources Management of RA Nature Protection Ministry has initially gave a positive assessment to the project of issuing a water use permit for the water intake in the amount of 13.5 lps from 'Salov', 'Manushak' and 'Aghbyuri Aru' water springs for the irrigation of 12.5 ha in Astghadzor community, Gegharkounik Region, Head of Water Resources Management of RA Nature Protection Ministry Sevan Matilyan told EcoLur in the course of the project discussions on 18 February. The author of the project is Astghadzor municipality.
It's noteworthy that Sevan Mantilyan prohibited to record him. Moreover, he didn't allow EcoLur's journalist, the only participant of the discussion, to get acquainted with the project. Mantilyan said the journalist should have come one-day earlier and got acquainted with the project and present proposals and comments on the day of the discussions.
In reply to EcoLur's questions whether there are data on the seasonal water flows of these springs, Mantilyan gave a negative answer. He mentioned that the initial positive assessment has been issued based on the examinations of 'Hydrogeological Monitoring Center' SNCO. Under Sevak Mantilyan, 'Aghbyuri Aru' water spring has a water flow of 10 lps and more, while 'Salov' and 'Manushak' water springs together have a water flow of 8.05 lps.
Mantilyan didn't provide any data on the seasonal flows of water springs. He said he didn't have the data with him, they are not available in the project as well, as they are not required. There is also no information about the water intake already provided from the water springs.
It should be mentioned that Astghadzor community resident Aramayis Asatryan had beaten an alarm signal to EcoLur that there are already permitted water intakes from the mentioned water springs, as a result of which they get dry at the beginning of summer and autumn.
