512 tons of pesticides kept in Nubarashen burial site shall be resettled and stored. Packaging of pests in the burial site has been worn out, the burial site is located in active landslide zones and endangers the water and nearby residential areas. Erebuni reserve is located in the close proximity to the burial site, where the unique genetic pool of wild wheats is conserved.

'Armenian Women for Health and Healthy Environment' NGO held a discussion on this topic in the frames of 'For Sake of Environment Free of Toxins from Local to Global Level' project.
The most debatable question is the selection of storage area. The initial area selected for this purpose is the previous warehouse area of civil protection and medical goods under the control of RA Ministry for Emergency Situations.

It's planned to establish here national center for storage and management of hazardous chemical wastes: Hrazdan residents and some environmentalists are concerned with this fact, 'Our pastures are located next to the area of the warehouse...A residential house is located in a distance of 800 meters from the warehouse... We don't want to have such a warehouse near our residential area,' Hrazdan residents outline.

In reply to their concerns, 'Armenian Women for Health and Healthy Environment' NGO President Yelena Manvelyan noted, 'We are interested in the correct solution to this problem from ecological viewpoint. If there are profound reasons for not establishing a warehouse near Hrazdan, of there are grounded risks for environment and health, we will draw up a report about substantiated risks and they shall select another place for storage.'

“Elimination of obsolete pesticide stockpiles and addressing POPs contaminated sites within a Sound Chemicals Management Framework in Armenia” project is a UNDP‐GEF full‐size project.
