This year there is general tendency of the increase in fish reserves at the expense of the whitefish and the trout. According to the initial data, the industrial reserves of the whitefish make up 550 tons instead of 450 tons in 2016, 15-16 tons of the trout instead of 1.5 tons in 2016. These data were presented at the press conference by Director of Scientific Center for Zoology and Hydroecology of NAS RA Bardukh Gabrielyan.

'We don't have an increase in the reserves in those amounts we have a potential, as the uncontrollable hunting remains this year as it was last year,' Bardukh Gabrielyan said. We should have at least 1000 tons of the whitefish in order to permit whitefish fishing.

Referring to the increase in the trout reserves, Bardukh Gabrielyan noted that the trout reserves in Lake Sevan have increased at the expense of the young fish let out of cage nets.
In 2016 around 921,000 items of young fish has been let out. This year the industrial reserve of the carp has been assessed 40 tons instead of 100 tons in 2016.

The worst situation is with the reserves of the Sevan khramulya and the Gokcha barbel, 'We can't now assess the amounts of the Sevan Khramulya, as they have reduced drastically and our methods don't allow assessing them. If we improve the conditions of the rivers, we will also improve their reproduction,' Bardukh Gabrielyan said.
