In 2015 lake Sevan had a postive balance. As of 21.12.2015, the level of Lake Sevan accounted for 1900.21 meters, which is higher by 8 cm as compared with the level on the same day last year (1900.13 meters), as Nature Protection Minister Aramayis Grigoryan said at the press conference held on 23 December. The transparency of the lake also increased - from 8 meters to 16 meters.
The water let out of Lake Sevan for irrigation purposes made up 167.743 milliom m3, which is less by 101.89 million m3 as compared with 2014.
Responding to the alarm signals that the water designed for the lake is let out to the Yeghegis River through Arpa-Sevan tunnel to operate SHPPs, Aramayis Grigoryan said, 'As of today, we are not able to transfer this water to Lake Sevan trhough Arpa-Sevan Tunnel, becauase works are being carried out there. In 2017, when the rehabilitation of Arpa-Sevan Tunnel will be accomplished, this water will be entirely trasnferred to Lake Sevan.'
According to the official information of Nature Protection ministry, forest cleaning works in the 142.5 ha of littoral areas of Sevan, in Noratus and Vardenis, were implemented in 2015. In total, 605.447 young fish have been let out into Lake Sevan in 2015. At the expense of the state budgets, 366.667 young fish were let out into Lake Sevan, while around 238.780 young fish wieghing from 2.5 to 50 grams were let out by 'Sevan Trout Reserve Recovery and Fish Breeding Development' Foundation.
