The Kartchevan River flowing through Agarak Town, Syunik Region, is filled with tails, which are easy to confuse with ground, clay or industrial wastes. Tails have specific toxic smell. The tails in Kartchevan River are fresh, otherwise snow and rains should have already cleaned them.
Nobody, but Agarak copper and molybdenum combine could fill the tails into the river. Agarak copper and molybdenum combine is operated by “GeoProMining Gold” Company.
The photos and video show how the tails of the combine flow into the Kartchevan River and directly flow into the Aras. All this occurs openly in front of all of us, but it doesn’t concern anybody. The reports of the State Environmental Inspection of Nature Protection Ministry doesn’t mention about any fines imposed on the combine. The appropriate bodies keep silence, while the damage caused to nature by mining only boost leaving our nation a “heritage” fill of toxic tails, wastes and emissions.
