The Armenian Government has allotted 8 million AMD to spent on the inventory of the mining wastes in the catchment basin of Lake Sevan. “In 2011 the inventory of the wastes collected due to mining, reserve and derelict mines was carried out in the catchment basin of the lake to develop measures to assess the adversary effect of the industrial wastes on Lake Sevan and to predict and to eliminate its consequences (a total number of mines is 54, including three metallic mines). The financial expenditure of the carried out activities have made up 8.0 million AMD,” says the medium-term expenditure program of Energy and Natural Resources Ministry for 2014-2016. The largest mine in the catchment basin of Lake Sevan is Sotq gold mine developed by GeoProMining Gold Company.
