On 7 June the National Assembly of Armenia adopted the program of the Armenian Government with 62 votes for and 39 votes against.
In its program the executive puts forward a task to minimise the harmful impact on the environment – air, climate, water, soil, flora and fauna, to exclude the overexploitation and illegal use of natural resources, to ensure the implementation of preventative measures, to focus on the supervision of problematic sectors, to introduce unified and contemporary systems of environmental monitoring, permits and licenses.
One of the most important priorities in the development of the economy is renewable energy – particularly solar energy. The executive will proceed to stage-by-stage liberalization process of the electricity and energy market in Armenia accomplishing the passage to a new and liberal market, as well as to search for new energy markets for realization and ensure the energy independence of Armenia through the active policy of import and export.
The government will always focus on the modernization of drinking and irrigation water infrastructures, natural gas and electricity infrastructures and the reduction of losses.
In the mining sector, the government will be guided by the exclusion of overexploitation of natural resources and their illegal use, minimizing the negative impact on the environment. Unified and contemporary systems of environmental monitoring, permits, and licenses will be introduced.
