As the Information and Analysis Center of NAS RA informs, on 5 October ‘Institute for Informatics and Automation Problems’ SNCO of NAS RA signed cooperation agreements with "Armenian State Hydrometeorological and Monitoring Service" State Non-Commercial Organization of RA MES and "Environmental Monitoring and Information Center " SNCO of RA Nature Protection Ministry. ‘We have an opportunity to increase our research up to a new level and to have results of up-to-date quality,’ RA NAS President Academician Radik Martirosyan said. ‘It’s important to have an agreement with the National Academy of Sciences of Armenia and to cooperate with the institutes of NAS RA with the direct involvement of the academy in the international grants. We aim to have a powerful system, which will carry out a monitoring of all the components of the environment and give predictions,’ RA Nature Protection Minister Artsvik Minasyan said. ‘We need to install supercomputers in Armenia in order not to fall behind in terms of forecasting the contemporary processes worldwide and their early notification systems,’ RA Minister for Emergency States Davit Tonoyan said. Under the agreement, the Institute for Informatics and Automation Problems its high-productivity computational resources, data clouds and necessary software for the weather forecast to make the environmental management more effective. Research and applied works will be carried out in the fields of hydrometeorology and climate studies for the purpose of mitigating disaster risks.
