President Serzh Sargsyan’s had an address at the first session of the 6th National Assembly, where congratulated the MPs and particularly said:

“… Every period of time has its own problems: ensuing decisions adopted in this hall, we will pass on to our future generation a country with fewer problems, more powerful, a state which stands firm on its two feet – that’s the state we will pass on to our generations.

…We don’t have hydrocarbons and other wide-scale natural resources, but the unique natural and climatic conditions and the geographical location of Armenia and, most importantly, creative and initiating citizens are significant and realistic guarantees of the sustainable growth of our economy and people’s well-being. Natural resources sent to get exhausted, but not the human potential. Moreover, it may increase.

…Our country shall be the most favourable and safest country to live in and to demonstrate themselves. Each citizen shall have his or her participation in the process of becoming such a country thus forming a strong and fair state. To achieve our aims, we need to develop and implement such an economic policy, which will be aimed at ensuring long-term economic growth.

...Without proper conservation of environment and an efficient system it will be impossible to reach long-term sustainable economic growth and ensure preservation of health and improvement of life quality for next generations.

Compliance with certain environmental criteria shall be a prerequisite for the implementation of urban development and business projects. The projects and measures aimed at the recovery of the ecological balance in Lake Sevan and solution to environmental problems shall be continued to ensure creation of long-term sustainable biodiversity.”
