Yerevan Municipality starts the process of recovering and developing green areas, as Yerevan Municipality Press Secretary Hakob Karapetyan posted on his Facebook page.
He mentions that the business entities having leased the city-owned land areas near Opera House in the section in close proximity to Freedom Square and dealing with cafe business have received notifications from the relevant division of the municipality, which offers them to refuse from a part of leased land areas.
'Under the contracts signed with the business entities, Yerevan community as represented by City Municipality, has a right to pose a requirement to free the leased areas 30 days in advance. It should be mentioned that all the cafes operating the zone subject to greening, except for one, have cafe zones in the adjacent sections, i.e. only a part of the areas owned by them is subject to greening. In the case of implementing this provision of the contract, the municipality has no commitment to damages. Nevertheless, the city authorities pursue their policy of promoting entrepreneurship and these business entities can naturally continue their business in more proper places. The city municipality will start the greening process at the beginning of the spring as soon as these areas are free from concrete covers,' Hakob Karapetyan posted.
