Water Quality of Sevjur River Supplying Water to Nuclear Power Plant Deteriorated

The chemical composition of the Sevjur River supplying water to the Armenian Nuclear Power Plant has deteriorated, as the data provided by “Environmental Impact Assessment Center” SNCO of RA Nature Protection Ministry.

In line with the data for 2017, the Sevjur river water had recorded the highest level of pollution, class 5, in the south and south-east sections from Ejmiatsin town. In line with the data for December 2016, the water downwards the Ranchpar was assessed as of medium quality. During one month river water quality has drastically deteriorated getting from class 3 to class. According to the certificate provided by this organization, the negative quality of the river water in 2017 was conditioned with the concentration of sulphate and boron ions.
