The second unit transformer designed for the second power unit of the Armenian nuclear power plant is already at the ANPP, which ‘Rosatom Service’ Company delivered on 24 December. The new transformer comes to replace the old one. According to the official information of the company, the equipment has been produced in ‘Zaporozhtransformer’ company, which is the largest one in the CIS and Europe producing transformer and electric reactors with annually over 60,000 industrial capacity.
Reminder: on 10 December 2017 ‘Rosatom Service’ Company delivered the first turbine generator and unit transformer to the Armenian Nuclear Power Plant.
The term of this power unit expired in 2016. Nevertheless, the government decided to extend the operational lifetime of the second power unit for another 10 years taking into consideration the serious lack of basic capacities. For this purpose, Russia has granted a loan of US $ 270 million and a grant of 30 US$ million to Armenia.
