All the rumors on the threat of Armenian Nuclear Power Plant (NPP) are baseless, chief specialist on emergency planning, state inspector of the committee regulating nuclear security in Armenia Martun Gevorgyan told Armenian News-NEWS.am.
He said that International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA)experts visited Armenia in late Spring and gave a positive feedback on NPP.
“I have a 40 years work experience, our NPP is very safe,” the expert stated and added that the NPP exploitation is carried out in close collaboration with IAEA and Russia. “For Armenia it will be very hard to stand without nuclear energy. It gives Armenia independence and not only. I believe that NPP is Armenia’s nuclear shield.”
