Abandoned Kavart mine located in Syunik Region of Armenia will be reclaimed. Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan stated this during the press conference on January 25 in Kapan.
“At our last working meeting, Minister of Environment Erik Grigoryan assured that reclamation work would start soon. This means that the mine is closed and the area is fully returned to nature,” the Prime Minister said, making it difficult to say how much money would be spent on reclaiming the mine.
“Mining in our country must be brought to the highest modern standards. You will not find a developed country in the world where there is no mining, because mining is a national wealth. Why not use this national wealth for the benefit of our country and not for the enrichment of some people? Don't demonize mining because it's a very important branch.”
