The situation in Akhtala is tense, as hundreds of residents are expressing their complaint addressed to the administration of Akhtala Ore Processing Combine demanding to restitute over a dozen of fired employees, to pay their wages, as well as to make working conditions better.
Martik Hakobyan, Zangezour Copper and Molybdenum Combine Ex Director Maksim Hakobyan’s brother, showed an abusive treatment towards the representatives of “Civil Voice” NGO and journalists having arrived at the spot on citizens’ request. He demanded from them to leave the area and not to interfere. He snapped posters from the demonstrators, as well as intimidated the locals.
