Dyveke Rogan in her half-hour-long report brought vivid examples why Panama scandal broke out, where the sparks reached and why they turned into flames. The stories told by the EITI representative were based on real stories, where top officials play main roles, while the actions were set in tax heaven.
Dyveke Rogan proposed to listen to what kind of concerns are available in Armenia and gave floor to the representative of Top Official Ethics Committee. Armen Khudaverdyan, first of all mentioned, his concerns were not from the mining sphere only. Neither their committee nor the state registrar can help to identify the real owners of the companies, as the state registrar registers only limited liability companies.
The EITI is waiting for the report of Armenia with comprehensive mining data starting from permits to income distribution. So far they will continue focusing on clean hands and cool heads.
