30 national experts from government, educational institutions and NGOs are development the list of sustainable forest management criteria and indicators in Armenia. The works are in progress since 13 September in the frames of the workshop launched in Yerevan entitled 'Sustainable Forest Management Accountability Systems in Caucasus and Middle East'. The application of these indicators will promote the monitoring of the states of forest in Armenia, developing assessment and reports, enhancing policies in regard to forests and promoting sustainable management of forests, as ECE/FAO Forestry Department Deputy Head Ekrem Yazici said. On 15 September the results of the works will be summarized, which will be followed with the public discussion of the initial list of sustainable forest management criteria and indicators in Armenia. Armenia shall have the final list of sustainable forest management criteria and indicators by 2019. The workshop has been organized by the UNECE and FAO.
