Lalvar Forestry Enterprise Forest Cover Will Be Reduced

The forest-covered area of Lalvar forestry enterprise will be reduced. This time the forest-covered area of the forestry enterprise will be reduced for the construction of infrastructures of Teghut copper and molybdenum mining project. Now 'High-voltage Electric Networks' Company is planning to carry out replacement of Lalvar-Noyemberyan overhead transmission line (OTL) (11kW) in 2017-2018. The works will be carried out in Lalvar forestry enterprise. 'The impact of construction works on flora and fauna is immediate, including felling down mature trees,' says the EIA of the project.

The project doesn't say anything about the number and species of the trees and bushes subject to felling. Lalvar forestry enterprise still doesn't have any precise data about it. 'There are no valuable trees in this area, just small trees,' Lalvar forestry enterprise director Harutyun Amirjanyan assured in his interview with EcoLur. 'There are mainly oak trees and hornbeam trees. There are no red-listed species. The area is not far from the highway, there aren’t any animals in the area,' Forestry Enterprise Chief Forester Artem Antanesyan said. The replacement of Lalvar-Noyemberyan overhead transmission line (OTL) (11kW) is carried out in frames of World Bank funded ‘Electricity Supply Reliability’ program.

The tender for the replacement of Lalvar-Noyemberyan overhead transmission line (OTL) (11kW) has been won by the chief contractor - Iranian ‘Gam Arak Industrial’ Company worth 4,394,456.24 USD.
