Forest Park and Recreation Zone Plannted to establish in Area of 40 ha of Formerly Developed Stone Quarries in Artik

In the area of ​​40 hectares of previously developed Artik stone quarries, degraded landscape improvement is planned: 30 hectares of forest park should be established, whereas 10 hectares is designed for recreation area. An application for Environmental Impact Assessment has been submitted to RA Environment Ministry for this project. According to the project, the contractor is Environmental Project Implementation Bureau of RA Environment Ministry and the contractor is Constanta Build LLC.

The establishment of a forest park and a recreation zone in Artik stone quarry area is one of the activities of “Management of Wastes and Floods in Non-operating Stone Pits in Artik Town” pilot project. The UN Adaptation Fund has provided $ 1,435,100 as a grant for this project. Out of that amount, $805,140 has been earmarked for the restoration, management and adaptation of natural landscapes in the Artik area affected by climate change and anthropogenic factors.

It is planned to plant 12,105 saplings and 21,232 shrubs in the forest. It is planned to plant 5721 trees and 6659 shrubs in the 10-hectare recreation zone.
