Recently, Norayr Papyan has beaten an alarm signal on the Facebook social network that 100 trees had been cut down in "Artsvaberd" forestry enterprise of "ArmForest" SNCO located in Tavush Region. The Forest Committee of RA Environment Ministry issued a statement, according to which 4 beech trees were actually cut down.
Norayr Papyan noted that fresh cut trees were discovered, not last year's ones. In addition, the discovery of only a few trees is due to the fact that very little time was devoted to the discovery of felled-down trees. We conducted a double search with the police officers in the same section: we’ve found more than 20 trees. Inspection body, "ArmForest", Environment Ministry - they are keeping each other,” Papyan said.
On April 21, Norayr Papyan visited "Artsvaberd" Forestry Enterprise with the employees of "Environmental Monitoring and Information Center" SNCO. This time, according to Norayr Papyan, as a result of checking only 2 out of 43 sections, more than 50 cut trees were detected.
