There has been insufficient stock of firewood after years of logging in the forests of Armenia to allocate up to 8 cubic meters per year to all residents of the adjacent woodlands by government decision. Director of "ArmForest" SNCO Areg Karapetyan and forest conservationists recently visited Lori Region, the Azatutyun Radio Station reported. Director of "ArmForest" Areg Karapetyan noted that these reserves are decreasing for the coming years.

The head of “ArmForest” undoubtedly emphasized that the wood that comes out of the forest is mostly used not for the residents of the surrounding communities but for sale. According to the source, "ArmForest" has set a precondition for community leaders, henceforth, residents of the woodland will receive only firewood based on the lists of community leaders prepared and approved in advance. Forestry officials say the government is looking for alternative fuels.
