Odzun Community Ardvi Village residents received the response to their letter addressed to Armenian PM Karen Karapetyan, where they asked the Prime Minister to stop the prospecting in Shekaghbyur gold-polymetallic mine, which hinders the development of Odzun community.
In reply to the letter, upon Prime Minister's assignment “Center for Environmental Impact Expert Assessment“ SNCO Director Vardan Sahakyan informs, “ “Miram” LLC’s project to carry out geological prospecting of Shekaghbyur gold-polymetallic mine area for 2017-2020 has been sent for supplementing and amendments. In case the supplemented and amended version is submitted, all the questions raised by the public and all public opinions will be taken into consideration to the most extent possible in the frames of the law.'
The letter addressed to 'Miram' LLC by Center for Environmental Impact Expert Assessment“ SNCO of RA Nature Protection Ministry lays down a number of requirements:
• Hydrological examination of the area by relevant experts and submission of exact information and ground on the existence of surface water and groundwater and water springs, as well as proper measures aimed at their preservation,
• Submission of measures aimed at environment preservation, including soil management waste management plan. Submission of the aggregate estimate of expenses required for the implementation of measures.
