The US President Barack Obama has pledged to reduce greenhouse gas emissions in the US not waiting for the UN Climate Change Summit in Paris in December, as www.yerkir.am website informs making a reference to BBC.
The US President called climate change the most serious challenge the humanity faces, which can’t be neglected. Obama outlined he wants to look at the eyes of his children and grandchildren and to say he did his best to overcome environmental crisis. The Republican Party opposes to Obama’s plans saying that measures aiming to improve ecology will harm the business.
The US takes the second place in the world for emissions after China. The international documents set the hazardous limit of planet temperature increase – 20 degrees. Most of permissible balance of CO2 gas emissions (gigatons), 65%, has already been exhausted. Only 1000 gigatons have been left to be emitted into atmosphere. If this limit is exceeded, global warming process will become uncontrollable.
