With its INDC (Intended Nationally Determined Contributions) Armenia has committed to reduce greenhouse gas emissions in the ranges of 633 million tons in 35 years, as Aram Gabrielyan UNFCCC Focal Point Aram Gabrielyan told EcoLur in his interview in the frames of “Towards Paris: Armenia on the threshold of the 21st Conference of Parties to the UNFCCC” Conference.
Reminder: at the end of year the 2015 United Nations Climate Change Conference, COP 21 will be held in Paris, where a new agreement shall be adopted, according to which all countries shall carry out targeted actions aimed at reducing greenhouse gas emissions. 154 countries have already submitted their INDC documents.
Aram Gabrielyan mentioned that the analysis of 154 country INDCs showed if the countries follow the document they had submitted, the planet temperature will rise not by 2, but 3 degree, which is hazardous for Armenia.
“Global temperature increase by 3 degrees means that the temperature in Armenia will rise by 4 degrees, which will result in having a driers climate with less rains and more hot days, more or less like Iran,” Aram Gabrielyan said.
