Armenia as Observer at the Twenty-second Session of Conference of Parties (COP 22) in Marocco

Today the twenty-second session of Conference of Parties (COP 22) of the member countries to the UN Convention on Climate Change was oepned in Marocco, which will continue till 18 November. Around 20,000 delegates will take part in the conference, including heads of the countries and governments. In these negotiationa Armenia will take part as an observer without any right to vote. Armenia will receive a right to vote when it ratifies Paris Convention on Climate, which entered into legal force on 4 November 2016. Secretary General Ban Ki Moon called for the countries, which haven't ratified the agreement, to do it in the nearest future.
According to the official website of the UN, around 100 countries have joined the Paris Agreement so far.

Reminder: the Paris Agreement was adopted at the Twenty-first Session of Conference of Parties (COP 22), which contains a commitment to restrain increase in global temperature at the level of 1.5 Celcius degrees.
