Green Area per Person in Yerevan Falls Behind International Standards

The amount of green plants for 2015 made up 6758.5 ha. Green area per person has made up 7.6 m2, which has fallen international standards. According to the World Health Organization, each person needs at least 9 m2 green zone per person to ensure minimum healthy environment, while desirable optimum level is considered to be 50 m2/person, as the initial strategic assessment of Yerevan green town actions says, which has been submitted for environmental expertise. Till 2020 it's planned to increase green zones in Yerevan by 1300 ha. Wide-scale greening works are planned in Dalma gardens – 256 ha, as well as in Hrazdan Gorge. New green zones are planned to be established in Shengavit, Malatia-Sebastia and Davtashen administrative areas.
