The fuss around the elections to the position of “Khosrov Forest” State Reserve Director has newer and newer details. On 20 November, on the eve of the competition for the position of the director the Public Environmental Alliance (about 50 organizations) addressed an official letter to Nature Protection Ministry demanding to publicize the official biographical date of the candidates. The matter is, that under the hearsay, the nominee, Gabriel Poghosyan, doesn’t have any appropriate professional education and aptitude. People are also concerned with the hearsay that he has some relations with the poachers. Unfortunately, the Ministry didn’t reply to the alliance and Gabriel Poghosyan’s biography remained a secret for people. The press has only some information leaked, which he stated in the course of the competition for the position of director on 23 November. “I have graduated from Rostov University Institute,” said Gabriel Poghosyan. The alliance has also applied to the representatives of the international environmental funds who support Khosrov Forest such as CNF and WWF, who also expressed their concern with the problem. The questions is whether international funds will continue or stop the funding of Khosrov Forest taking into consideration the current situation.
