On 23 February the executive approved the management plan and action plan for Dilijan National Park 2017-2026. The primary aim of the management plan is the maximum compliance of national park zoning to the criteria set for Category 2 of the IUCN. According to the new management plan, the reserve zones of the national park will be added, while recreation and economic zone areas will be decreased.

If the total area of reserve zones accounted for 2.277 ha for a national park with an area of 33765 ha under the management plan for 2007-2011, the new plan says the area will make up 13,539.1 ha by 2026 (40.3% of the national plan). The reserve zone shall make up 8,403.3 ha instead of 935 ha (24.9% of the national park). The total area of recreation zones of the national park will be reduced from 4194 ha to 1724.1 ha (5.1% of the national park), while economic zone will make up 26,359 ha instead of 10,039.5 ha (29.7% of the national park). The buffer zone of the national park will make up 8167 ha instead of 18,920 ha in 2026. Around 101.6 ha of area will be recovered in the national park by 2021. Under the management plan of Dilijan National Park for 2017-2026 administrative, preservation, monitoring and research works are planned, as well as deer resettlement, visitor, educational and public awareness raising programs are planned.
