The industrial reserves of the crawfish have reduced almost twice in Lake Sevan, as Director of Scientific Center for Zoology and Hydroecology of NAS RA Bardukh Gabrielyan informed the journalists.

'If last year the industrial reserves of the crawfish was assessed in the amount of 4800 tons, this year it made up only 2600 tons. The first reason is overfishing with the use of non-desirable fishing tools. It’s about Chinese spring-catching hunting that catch small and large crawfish, which results in not only crushing, but also a reduction of crabs,' Bardukh Gabrielyan noted.

Reminder: two months ago Armenian PM Karen Karapetyan assigned RA Nature Protectio Ministry to examine and submit to the staff of the government proposals on the technical requirements posed to the fishing tools permitted for the fishing of crawfish and proposals on preventing their cases in practice.

The Head of Nature Protection and Soil Inspection Body was assigned to enhance the control over crawfish fishing.

The PM assigned RA Nature Protection Minister to exclude any cases of prolongation or reformulation of formerly issued hunting permit terms. Besides, within two-months the Ministry will develop and submit to the staff of the government proposals on reviewing the procedure of issuing crawfish hunting permit.
